Here is some SPOILER info and images for the upcoming UQ Holder Chapter 132, courtesy of 2CAT.Β (My review of UQ Holder Chapter 132 should come out as soon as they appear on Crunchyroll, depending on when Crunchyroll publishes the chapter.)
UQ HOLDER Chapter 132 SPOILERS
The UQ Holder Chapter 132 goodness begins. Here are the spoiler images. ^_^
From Hata:
a very early and limited spoiler just reveals the secret of Negi, he never dies, the first ever NORMAL human to be able to live forever through transplant, strange enough, the story is still about the fight for Tota in the end,
Also, there are these two color, promo images. The first features Saati (or Thirty) from A.I. Love You, Naru from Love Hina, Asuna from Negima, and Yukihime (or Eva) from UQ Holder.
If there are any more images, I’ll make updates as needed.
Update #1: A Korean scanlation has shown up. I’m not linking to it for various reasons, including that it might have bad stuff inside. However, here are some bullet points on what happens. Since I can’t read Korean, there won’t be many details.
- ME-Touta battles MotB-Negi.
- Eva battles Jack and gets sucker punched away.
- Santa battles Al, who summons undead for Santa to have to fight off.
- Kuroumaru manages to snare Yue and Nodoka in a trap similar to the trap Negi used to snare Eva and Chachamaru back in volume 3 of Negima.
- Yukihime and adult Fate join ME-Touta and lock blades with MotB-Negi. It appears this causes their true selves (child Negi, Eva, child Fate, and Touta without ME) to emerge and rise above the city.
- Negi introduces himself to Touta. Fate and Eva have angry words with Negi. Negi explains some things. Fate is near tears. Touta has sheepish words with Negi, who turns earnest and apparently discusses his own quest of going after Nagi. Eva looks sad and hugs Negi.
- Battle resumes. Fate and Yukihime seal MotB-Negi in ice. He quickly escapes. In .01 seconds, MotB-Negi defeats Fate. In .03 seconds, MotB-Negi defeats Yukihime.
- MotB-Negi goes to finish Touta, but ME-Touta has now mastered Negi’s lightning form. The two have a lightning form battle, but MotB-Negi’s experience is superior and he prepares to finish off Touta with a massive spell.
Update #2: A few more spoiler images from different places.
More updates if needed.
it’s almost like they got Negi’s true self out for the moment before the fight starts up again…
Cool.
Looks like. Ditto Eva and Fate.
Once again, shrug. Not much to see.
Also, studio Dean would a satisfactory choice for the UQ Holder Anime.
….. considering that in one of this pictures Fate is stating his “methode” for saving “humanity” I think there is a lot to “see”…..
hint: Touta = Adam
What a pleasant New Year’s Eve surprise. It’s good to see master and student reunited.
I’m looking forward to the chapter for sure.
For a bit of clarity, the secret that’s revealed is that Touta is the sole successful example of immortalization technology used on a normal person. Negi’s just who Fate is revealing the secret and his plan to make all of humanity immortal to.
But Touta is not a normal person, he is a vampire.
Touta is now (though as with Eva, that element is mostly ignored), but he wasn’t when he was created.
Can someone born with Magia Erebea really be called normal?
He was lab-made, so maybe the Touta embryo was normal, but they applied the principle of Magia Erebea on him before ‘birth’.
Also, oboy, this will be a repeat of the whole ‘Cosmo Entelecheia or not’ conflict all over again, right? Once again, Holder proves it can’t take three steps without rehashing something Negima already did (the chibi Eva, Negi and Fate being the most blatant part in these images, down to their clothes changing to the most marketable ones Because Reasons).
You know, maybe the next time they have a conflict over which way of living to impose upon humanity, both sides should think of *actually asking mankind what do they want the uberpeople do with their lives*? Just a crazy idea here…
At this point, I think UQH’s main purpose is to finish the Negima story. Anything beyond that is gravy.
@OverMaster It could simply be the intent of definition, can Magi themselves be called human? It primarily depends if the researchers care about it post-humorously.
Also, immortal Senju EX DNA plot tumor incoming.
For that matter, can anyone created from magic and science be normal? π
A worse and more general philosophical question, esp in anime or manga, what is considered as normal?
As a manga reader, am I trying to add what I perceive as normal onto the manga characters? I think I do at times.
Thanks for the info!
aw, why did you reveal the mystery π
also Negi says that he could save Daddy and broke a promise
aka Nagi is dead with a probablity of 97.42%
also just a crazy idea here:
don’t like it, don’t read it…
“Don’t like it, don’t read it”. Mankind’s oldest excuse to try and avoid listening to criticism. As if that would make the series any better.
I’d most likely have dropped this already if not because it’s still the only way to see more of a few remaining characters I had grown attached to through Negima, and because the artwork is still gorgeous (something I have never denied) to look at. And because I actually like Kirie, Karin and Santa, even if two of them never get any actual use anymore. I used to like Kuromaru as well but he pretty much lost my respect, and I want to like Jinbei but he never gets to do absolutely anything at all. Dana is okay as well.
All of that doesn’t change the fact the plotting still stinks.
Oh, don’t think I don’t appreciate good criticism. When I prepare a talk for a science conferece or just recently my phd defense, I seek out good critism because it’s helpful. But there is difference between good critism and someone who just want’s to nag because she’s buthurt.
take for example this nagging about the current chapter:
I won’t say where I found this or who this is, but it’s clearly referencing the spoilers Hata posted. Of course the thing is, the early spoiler was a little wrong because it’s actually Touta and not Negi.
The point is, a person who wanted to give genuine critism would have waited until the full chapter is out. One the other hand, if that person just wants to nag, she will jump on the next best occasion which arises and give of her verbal diarrhoea.
also just another crazy idea here:
If you have almost no more interest in something and are ‘just following it’, maybe you shouldn’t post so much about it, especially ‘criticism’. It could give of the wrong impression.
p.s.:
I personally see
as a bit of wisdom considering the sheer amount of media out there on which we can spend on our limited time on this planet. But to each their own.
First, finding posts from other forums and using them to try and further a personal argument is kinda creepy.
Second, I would ordinarily agree that heavy handed criticism is a bit much on a relatively low key series like UQ Holder, if there was nothing regarding either its author or its setting. Problem is, this is not only a veteran affair by a well accomplished author, but a direct sequel inheriting a lot of the burden and standards of the previous series coming before it. There’s a precedent to follow through, and when an author doesn’t meet them for fans that have invested quite a bit of money in the series, its a little unfair to try and deride people for voicing their frustration in being unsatisfied with something they were once passionate about.
That said, if UQ Holder were its own solitary thing that had nothing to do with Negima, I would probably say its wasted potential at best. There’s a decent story underneath that’s kinda squandered by bad shounen tropes and poor management of its relatively small cast, but that’s par course for most of the genre at this point anyway. I’d go so far as to say introducing more Negima elements like Touta’s ME and Fate as an antagonist actually is what screwed the series over in the long run, because then you divide attention between sloppily handling older cast and plot elements, or trying to deal with the new cast in a entertaining manner. Its a difficult track to walk, and looking at Akamatsu’s past track record with Negima, one he’s not good at dealing with to begin with.
Let’s not pretend this isn’t a two way street between Negima or UQ Holder either. Its very easy to criticize Negima for many of the same failings as UQ Holder throughout the later portion of its run as we’ve done in the past, and that its only the sequel unfairly taking a lot of the burden here. Problem is, since we’re focusing on UQ Holder as a subject, its going to be the object of attention, and most discussion is going to pertain to it.
> I wonβt say where I found this or who this is,
Oh, so you either are Chaosjunction or are familiar with him? Big shock. You don’t post like Archivist at all, so I doubt you are him.
Anyway, I’m not afraid of saying I’m NapoleonDeCheese over at TV Tropes Forums, and if I have a different username there it’s just because I lost the identification for my OverMaster username. I don’t play “I won’t say where I hunted you, I won’t say I’ve been there, but I’m still hunting you” games or care for them, I’m open on my opinions and my ways of obtaining information wherever I post. If I ever link to anything Astro or Hata have posted I’ll fully credit them for it, for instance.
> The point is, a person who wanted to give genuine critism would have waited until the full chapter is out.
When there’s almost constant precedent for a series’ random plotting and bad decision-making, guessing the bad quality of the outcome of a development that, just from the description, flies against anything previously established, is no big feat.
> One the other hand, if that person just wants to nag, she will jump on the next best occasion which arises and give of her verbal diarrhoea.
Scathology, everyone; truly the benchmark of great, respectful posting.
Also, how I choose to spend my time is no matter of yours, just like I don’t care about your reasons to follow or not this or anything else. Please stick to discussing the work of fiction itself and not others’ own lives in an attempt to disqualify them or their opinions. It just reeks of goalpost moving to avoid countering the actual points others are bringing up.
Would it make you feel better, if I say that I actually are aware of that forum for over a year and sometimes saw some very nice comments which are borderline offensive and have nothing to do with criticism, at least in my opinion, or some very creepy behavior? I could do much worse…
I also on purpose didn’t post the name of that forum because there are others besides princess who use it and it would be rather poor on my part to drag them in this little ‘drama’. I actually just wanted princess to show that I’m know her ‘true’ opinion and know how she acts ‘behind the sceens’. But of course princess can only think of herself….
it is kind of nice that your admitting it that your overdoing it, but
Is this some kind of written down law? Who determines what this standards are? What is this precedent exactly? But don’t worry, I think I get what you mean, however
isn’t this the main point. There are fans who aren’t satisfied and they have all the right to voice their frustration, but there are fans who aren’t frustrated and new fans who can’t understand this frustration in the first place because the never read Negima. Maybe its my personal bias, but I believe that in general fan communities form because they enjoy a certain thing. And while its ok to criticize and complain sometimes, it’s in general just poor manners to the others who probably do not participate to see/read what they enjoy is utter garbage on a regular basis. This could be one origin of:don’t like it, don’t read it.
I actually saw someone complaining about the poor ending of Negima and in a later post actually apologizing because it wasn’t fair to the other participants of that thread. So maybe it isn’t only me?
And your fine to have your opinion and I can’t remember ever criticizing you for it or anyone else.
Funny story, I like the later parts of Negima more than the earlier parts, so do I not see these failings or is it because this failings boil down to personal opinion and as such are different from individual to individual. There are people out there who like UQ!holder more than Negima, afterall.
Btw, doesn’t your point confirm that this so-call frustration actually began a lot earlier and as such is actually misplaced? Isn’t it partially fault of the individual fans for not accepting the change story structure? I mean you more or less say that it began already in Negima, so in my opinion more than enough time to accept the ‘failings’ and move on. Btw, many did this and I have absolutely no problem with that given my philosophy ‘don’t like it, don’t read it’.
Btw, despite maybe comments in the past, I think your actually a smart guy, so I was wondering about your irrational hatred.
And now the sad one:
I specifically didn’t name any names because my beef is with you and nobody else. But I have to add it is nice how you suspect others of being me…
Here a hint: It is a public forum and I’m the captain of the Nautilus….
At best I can say missing the point.
What? You just said that it’s random and therefore per definition not predictable, but of course it must be bad because you say so. Which is of course your opinion and given that other do enjoy UQ!holder this cannot be an absolute truth. Or are you suggesting that your taste is the right one and those who disagree got it wrong???
A) I am a scientist. I recently finish my PHD and soon can officially call me a Dr *enter name here*. BTW, I am surrounded by other PHDs all the time and given my little political work I also do, I’m fully aware that I have a very highly specialized knowledge which is very useless in many situation. Or in short: It isn’t that impressive actually. But: I work hard for it and it can be very stressful to find an error in your program which ruined months of work. Point being, intellectual honesty is a requirement for it and I actually take a bit of pride in being so. SO I HOPE YOUR UNDERSTAND THAT BY CALLING OR IMPLYING THAT I AM USING SOME FALLACIES OR POOR EXCUSES YOUR INSULTING ME ACTUALLY QUITE A LOT, PRINCESS.
B) respect comes from the latin
respicere, respicio, respexi, respectum
and means to look back. I do look back at your past behavior and comments. Remember my still open question what to call a harsh critic who can’t do 5 mins of google search?
Now combine A) and B) and you may understand that I think that I given you a response which actually is still a bit nice considering other comments you made to me privately or about others, in specific Mr. S. You like to whine about others of doing things which you have no problem doing yourself….
Also it is nice how your ignored the point, which is the main reason I posted that comment. You complain about something based on a very short spoiler which given the current spoiler pics had one tiny error.
a) I explain why I think ‘don’t like it, don’t read it’ is actually not an excuse but a very wise statement. If your feel attack, that’s your problem.
b) Considering that specifically you didn’t stick to discussing the work of fiction in the past and this was until now the main reason for be kicking you….
c) I think when it comes to logic and such I’m far superior to you and for some reason I don’t think I ever moved the ‘goalpost’ regarding you
d) Your raise points and therefore don’t like it. Great. Now go away and stop annoying the rest of use who like to enjoy it.
Don’t like it, don’t read it.
P.S.:
Don’t worry to much, I wont post anymore. I fond you annoying when I was still lurking and given that I got to know you a bit more, now absolutely annoying.
Still a bit early, but I worked 4 hard years for it so f*** the rules
Cheers
Dr. rer. nat. Gilga
“I won’t post anymore”.
Thank you, this delightful, wonderful sweet nugget made all the rest of your boastful (“I’m a scientist”), condescending (“bla bla bla”) and pedantic long-winded post worthwhile. Thanks for the excellent New Year Gift, and let’s just hope you stick to your word. God knows I try regarding Animesuki, despite of the temptation, and I’ve regretted every relapse.
It’s also nice to see your continued likely sexism showing up through your recurring use of ‘princess’ as an intended insult and your usage of feminine personal pronouns while attacking me. I’m no female, but I don’t mind if anyone ever calls me one. Many if not most of the most admirable, respectable people I know are women.
“Now go away and stop annoying the rest of use who like to enjoy it.”
Please don’t mind if I don’t go, and if I annoy you, I wouldn’t say that’s any more of my fault than it is your fault you annoy me. Everybody is bound to annoy someone else anywhere no matter what we do, anyway, that’s human nature.
“Btw, doesnβt your point confirm that this so-call frustration actually began a lot earlier and as such is actually misplaced?”
Actually, no. When UQ Holder first started up, I was more then happy to try it out and hoped it would turn out to be an okay series by an author I liked. The worst thing I could say about the series starting out is that Touta didn’t grip me as a character, but that was it. That…didn’t exactly pan out for me in the end, but it wasn’t a continuation of Negima’s problems later down the line.
Seems copies, clones, and what Tota is (what ANB said Tota was — can’t remember that word but it wasn’t clone) is a continuing theme in this story. For transplants, one needs the DNA copies to recreate the organs, from copies as in clones. I just hope we don’t see multiple Negis like we saw with Fate. I guess Tota must have been a real one-of-a-kind.
We finally get to see Fate again, and why the re-imaging Eva, Fate, and Negi to again look like they were in Negima or their true form or past form? Yeah, probably to draw the Negima fans again. Hopefully its explained when the chapter is released. I guess Negi’s team is occupied with the other UQ holders.
I’m also confused, immortal and yet needs transplants? Another twist to being immortal? Does it mean the MotB is vulnerable when Negi is down for a transplant? So if they cut off Negi’s leg, Negi has to wobble back to the lab to get a new one?
hmmm … possibly expanding this out more, maybe Negi’s crew, Jack, Al, Yue, Nodoka and this includes Fate, are all clones of the original and it can explain why they haven’t aged, which fits this ‘clone’ theme along with the Konoe twins. If they gave Tota some of Asuna’s power, why dosen’t Negi-MoTB have a Asuna clone… instead of needing Tota that has it and Negi’s ME combined with it.
Homunculus.
As to the rest, hopefully we’ll get a better picture when the chapter comes out.
That’s the word!! Thank you ANB, I drew a blank in my mind to that word!!!
To be honest, I drew a blank for a while as well. I kept thinking “chimera,” but knew that was wrong.
I wonder among these Homunculus will be depowered but brilliant Chao Lingshen.
That’s not a bad theory. I wonder how she gets the LINGSHEN name though.
How did Tota get his last name KONOE?
Through a cover up, there must been additional survivors among his sisters/brothers that were made. We know he does have a sister of a different last name as well.
There alot little things that still there, which Sensei hasn’t covered yet. If he remembers them, Chaos was long time ago writing wise. Also the technology she was wielding hasn’t been mentioned once (I would hope that sort of tech was stupid rare, time travel..)
From my impression, Chaos was expecting to be arrested once she got back.
Don’t forget Cutlass, the supposed test-tube sister to Tota. Seems she has a sword similar to Asuna (pactio sword?), and Cutlass has a time-stop ability. So I don’t understand how Yue can claim that Tota is the only successful test. Unless Cutlass was part of another kind of homunculus combination and purpose.
Too many Negima characters had links to the Konoe family name, including a Magic School which can contain more Konoe named people, and may have included the couple that initially stole Tota and died, when Eva was asked to save Tota. Its also linked a Konoe to the sword school for Kuromaru, Setsuna, Isana, and Tsukuyomi.
Cutlass has a replica of Asuna’s artifact but she doesn’t have Magic Cancel.
@Rob C. From one prestige to another. Also, Koneo is about as Japanese as you can get, if one considers all the other class 3B girls last names that Akamatsu-Sensei could’ve given Touta as red hearing.
You know, I forgot that the two adults who were killed with Touta were Konoe.
Hopefully, UQ Holder does well and they can bring Chao into the story somehow.
Wasn’t Chao the one from the future, a future descendant of Negi and also battled Negi? I can imagine the real person time traveling again to watch by attending the Mahora Martial Arts Tournament or watching this water race and knowing by her historical knowledge that Negi-MotB would be there too. Would what happens to Negi affect her existence too? Interesting possibility.
When will the chapter be released?
Likely, next week. Its usually, 8-12th so far. It was late last month.
I think it was supposed to be released on the 8th, but it came out a bit earlier in the US.
Still shrugging my shoulders.
Is it just me or is this looking like the end of the manga
I don’t think so. This arc is dedicated to the final fight against Negi. There will be other arcs after this.
Idk man I always imagined finding negi would be the end goal of this manga
Again, I suppose it’ll depend on the sales for the new stage of the manga and whether the anime succeeds or not.
The manga is being written so that it could end with a resolution to the Negima story, or it could continue on. Everything depends on manga sales and how the forthcoming anime does.
“In .01 seconds, MotB-Negi defeats Fate. In .03 seconds, MotB-Negi defeats Yukihime.”
And surely next Touta will still defeat him regardless since otherwise, well, other than a Deus Ex Machina, the manga ends.
Sigh.
I mean, this is just exaggerated Dragon Ball Z-esque numbers pulling to try and make things look extreeeeeeeme and the odds eeeeeedgy and the hero of the piece poooooowerful at other characters’ expense. That’s just plain depressing.
To be fair, I’ve heard people comparing UQH to DBZ going back a ways, mainly due to Touta’s instant power up and mastery of new techniques.
“Eva looks sad and hugs Touta”
I believe this quote is wong and you might anger the wrath of shippers when the eventual chapter is released.
I’m so excited to see the child selves!
Nope, i read the same Raws. Dunno if from the same site, but yeah. Astro is right.
Touta is in the scene, but I was wrong. She hugged Negi. ^_^;;;
I fixed that. Eva did hug Negi.
Chapter 133 is up.
Thanks. I actually had it the night of the 6th. However, whenever I’ve had free time of late, I’ve just been so unmotivated. π
